January 2022 Welcome back and UK Trust

We would like to welcome you all to our First “blog” and post for 2022. Many of our staff feel refreshed and excited about what God has in store for us for 2022. We have our scheduled “prayer” day at the end of January and we are excited to hear what God has in store for us as an organization and a
community of people serving the nation.

Gateway School of Fashion:
The end of the previous year has brought the usual changes and in some cases challenges as well as wonderful achievements. Our Gateway School of Fashion held a wonderful Fashion Show at the end of November and the learners excellent themselves in the quality of the work produced. Mr. Greg Wallis, our Judge from Durban who travels to Milan, Paris, London and New Year to the Fashion
Shows there commented:
“This year the 2021 has been outstanding. The quality of the garments made are as good as anywhere in the world and the mood boards and the interpretation of the boards colour and design into the range of clothing has excelled my highest expectations.”
Well done to all the staff who work tirelessly in the Gateway School of Fashion to make this happen. Thank you.

Gateway Christian School:
The Gateway Christian School had a tough year due to the “riots” during July 2021 and the ongoing COVID pandemic. However at the end of 2021 we had a 100% pass-rate for all Grades in our School. Again a very big thank you to all the staff concerned. The children’s lives will be strengthened because of this.

Computer Center:
At the end of last year we received a donation to completely revamp the Computer Centre starting with a new roof. We also received 30 brand new computers and 30 computer chairs. The children will now have access to the most up to date equipment which will enable all children from Grade 3 to learn this much needed skill. Thank you to the generous donor.

UK TRUST:
At a recent UK Trust Trustees meeting the donations that we have received to date was discussed and much to everyone’s delight it was disclosed that we have received over R7,000,000 (seven million Rand) since 2006 through this conduit. An amazing achievement and Project Gateway would like to thank the Trustees for their help in assisting the Trust to function, and each and every person who has contributed to this amazing achievement. We have our regular donors and then we also have the donors who wish to remain anonymous. Thank you for this ongoing support. We appreciate every cent received and it all goes to helping us fulfill our mandate of “Changing lives empowering communities”.

ABELUSI:
Last year we worked with ABELUSI (shepherds) with two main areas. The first is the planning and design of the revamp of the building which was destroyed by re in 2016. We have worked with architects; quantity surveyors, civil engineers and structural engineers in devising a plan and strategy for the revamp and refurbishment of this are within the Project Gateway precinct. We continue to work with ABELUSI and others in fundraising for this project. The second area is a project where we encourage “Communities to feed Communities”. We have enhances 2 large vegetable
gardens in the Edendale area and they are able to feed children from child headed households and other families around their community. This year we hope to be support more gardens as well as some crèche gardens being worked by the crèches we support through our CARE Ministries.
