SUNSET OVERNIGHT SHELTER
The Sunset overnight shelter provides temporary shelter and accommodation to those in the city with nowhere else to go. Each night up to 40 men and women can be accommodated. The staff also provide education brochures and wherever possible job and skills opportunities for residents. Since SOS opened in 1992, approximately 150,000 people have been served in this ministry.
As well as meeting the very practical needs of food and shelter, the prayer of the team is that Jesus is brought into the lives of homeless people to give them long-term hope. Pre-fabricated cabins offer shelter to people and food is served to them on a covered verandah.
This year we have been working on our partnerships with the Albany Bakery, Department for Social Welfare, Department of Labour and Department of Home Affairs from applications, grants and provision, and we hope these will bring us new opportunity and capacity in the year to come.
