GATEWAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
Gateway Christian School seeks to provide quality but affordable education to local children.
The School opened in January 1998, catering for children in Grades 1, 2 and 3. Grades 1 and 2 met in opposite ends of Gateway Hall, and Grade 3 were taught in the Chapel, as at that stage the school had no buildings of its own. The Principal's office was part of a store room, shared with piles of stationery!
Since its opening, the school has grown immensely and now comprises 12 classrooms, a library, an administration block and a hall shared with Project Gateway. Four new classrooms are under construction.
Now catering for Grades RR to Grade 7, it has a full staff, including the Principal, teachers, a bursar, admin staffand support staff . More than 1200 children have been given high quality education over the years, and at present, there are 550+ children on roll.
In addition to the curriculum, the school enjoys many different events and activities:
Spring Day 2015
In September, Gateway Christian School held 'Spring Day'. For children it was a non uniform day, and the grade 7 learners held a very successful market during the lunch break. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, taking part in modelling, dancing and drama.
Heritage Day 2015
Heritage Day is a public holiday in South Africa, normally held on 24th September. It is a day in which all are encouraged to celebrate their cultural traditions.
Many children cannot be collected from school straight away as their parents are working, so we have an aftercare facility which accommodates almost 60 children. They are cared for each day at our boarding home.
