Reflection of the year gone, 2021

As we close for the end of what has been a very difficult year, we remember the “reason for the season” we are now in.  The celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus and the fact that he is the Saviour of the World.  Emanuel – God with us.

Project Gateway offices close on the 15th December and re-open again on 4th January 2022.

Looking back on this year we can but give glory to God for the way in which he has sustained us through a very difficult pandemic with various restrictions being imposed on us as a country ranging from Level 3 to Level 1.  We are currently experiencing the COVID Omnicom variant 4th wave which seems to spread much more rapidly.

We are fortunate in that our Gateway Christian School closed at the beginning of December and most of the CARE Ministry crèches we work with and support also closed after their end of year graduations parties. The Gateway School of Fashion held a very successful Fashion Show on 27th November and all available tickets were sold out.  The Fashion School closed the following week. Hopefully this has helped prevent the spread of the virus.

As we look towards the New Year (2022) we look forward to expanding the existing programmes.

  • Through a wonderful funder we are in the process of revamping and upgrading the Computer Center at Gateway Christian School, we look forward to an “official” opening next year.
  • We have partnered with ABELUSI (shepherds) who have helped us assist 2 existing community gardens in the Edendale Valley enhance their garden and move towards a more sustainable gardening project which also helps the Community feed the Community.  This programme will be extended in the new year to incorporate other local community gardens.
  • A team of “professional” experts have been meeting regarding the restoration and revamping of the C Block Building that was extensively damaged by fire in 2016. An architect’s model has now been completed and applications have been submitted to the various Government structures for this revamp to commence. Next year we will embark on a major fundraising plan for the project.

We wish to thank all our supporters, donors, volunteers and everyone who has helped us in any way during this past year.  Your help and prayers and guidance has been wonderful and we appreciate it all.  No matter how small the help seemed to be, a bucket is only filled drop by drop. Every contribution is very much appreciated.

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas period as you celebrate with family and friends the amazing birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Warm wishes

Di Milford & the Project Gateway Team
